MunshiPick Rupin if you want a khata tied to a payments wallet, POS and stock, as its listing describes. Pick Munshi if you want to record udhaar, cash, bank and expenses, in Urdu, and you do not want the app to move money. We make Munshi. This is not Rupin’s review of itself. Udhaar Book’s new name
On Google Play the app is titled Rupin (formerly Udhaar Book), package com.oscarudhaarapp, developer Toko Lab Inc. The description says Udhaar Book is now Rupin and that business records stay with you. The same page gives the website rupin.pk, the email info@rupin.pk and the phone +92 21 3834 1166. The support block still showed info@udhaar.pk and a US postal address for Toko Lab Inc., plus a Pakistan phone. We mention both because a shopkeeper searching “Udhaar Book” should land on the same package and should still read the developer name. The page was updated on 10 October 2026. The heading showed 4.2 stars from 41.9K reviews. The ratings block showed 4.2 stars from 41.7K reviews.
A search the same day also showed an App Store page titled Rupin (formerly Udhaar Book). We are not quoting an App Store star rating, because we used the Play listing for the figures above.
Khata plus a wallet
The listing describes a digital khata, a personal khata, a cash book, expenses, receivables and payables, and profit and loss. Beside that it describes POS sales, inventory with low-stock alerts, GST and sales-tax invoices, and payroll with attendance and salary advances. It says WhatsApp and SMS reminders help you collect. It does not say whether those messages send themselves.
The payments section says Rupin Wallet can take QR and digital payments, receive money through JazzCash, Easypaisa, Omni, Raast, IBFT and other wallets, and send money to suppliers. It says the wallet operates under the State Bank of Pakistan’s framework for electronic money institutions. It also describes mobile recharge, vouchers and utility-bill payments with cashback into the wallet. “Trusted by 5.6 million businesses” is the sentence on the listing. We did not audit it.
The page shows the app as free. It does not show a monthly subscription, and it does not show a “Contains ads” label. It also does not show a fee table for transfers, cash-in or bill payments. Do not read silence as “every payment is free”. Ask Rupin, or read the wallet terms, before you route supplier payments through it. The data-safety form says no data is shared with third parties, and that the app may collect location, personal info and six other types.
What Munshi will not try to be
Munshi, from DIGIT, is a record of credit and of cash, not a place that holds customer money. You enter what you gave and what you got. You keep a cash book, bank accounts and expenses. You share a PDF or Excel statement in English or Urdu. Reminders open WhatsApp and wait for you to press Send. The app is free to download. A few small ads, marked Ad, pay for the servers. They do not appear while you add an entry, sign in, unlock or send a reminder. Names, phone numbers and amounts are not shared with advertisers. One account can hold five businesses. There is no POS, no barcode stock, no invoice, no payroll and no wallet. If those are the product you need, Munshi will feel incomplete, and that is a fair reason to choose Rupin after you test it.
A practical split
Some owners will use a wallet app to take a JazzCash payment and a khata app to remember the udhaar. That is reasonable. If you do it, write the payment into the khata the same minute the wallet confirms it, or the two balances will drift. Munshi will not see the wallet transfer unless you enter it. Rupin’s pitch is that the payment and the book update together. We did not run a live payment to confirm that sentence. If you try it, use a small amount first.
