Sending an udhaar reminder from Munshi is a short list of taps that ends in your thumb on WhatsApp’s Send button. The app prepares the words. You decide to send them. Munshi is made by DIGIT. This page is the procedure on the phone. What to say, and how to stay polite, is already written in polite payment reminders, with an Urdu edition beside it. Do not treat the two as the same article. One is tone. This one is the order of screens. The Urdu labels, if the app is in Urdu, are یاد دہانیاں and یاد دہانی بھیجیں.
Before you tap anything
The balance you are about to show someone should be a balance you believe. Open the person’s account and read the latest lines. If a payment from this morning is missing, tap You got first. A reminder built on a stale figure starts a fight you could have avoided. The way those entries work is in how to keep an udhaar ledger. The person also needs the phone number you actually message on WhatsApp, saved on their account. A landline or an empty number cannot open a chat.
Choose a quiet moment. A kiryana rush is a bad time to send five reminders, because you will tap through without reading. One sitting a week is enough for most shops. How that rhythm fits getting paid is in getting paid faster.
The steps on the screen
- Home, then the bell. The title is Reminders. The people listed owe you. You are not picking from the entire phone book. If someone has settled, they are not the point of this list.
- Tap the person. Read the amount in the currency of this business. If you run more than one business, check the name at the top of Home first. A reminder from the wrong shop, with the wrong total, is worse than silence. Up to five businesses can sit on one account, and each has its own customers.
- Tap Send reminder. Munshi builds one message. In English it reads, in substance: Assalam o Alaikum, their name, a gentle reminder from your shop, the outstanding balance, and a request to arrange payment, with a thank-you. Urdu mode uses the Urdu text of that same reminder. The amount is formatted with the shop currency, so a shop set to PKR shows Rs, and a shop whose currency code is AED shows AED in front of the number. There is no second hidden message.
- WhatsApp opens on a draft. This is the same compose box you would have typed yourself. “Opened” is not “delivered”. The customer has not seen it yet. Read the name. Read the amount. If you want a softer line, type it here. The examples of tone live on the polite-reminder page, not as a script you must paste.
- Press Send in WhatsApp. That press is yours. Munshi does not press it. If you back out, nothing is sent. There is no timer that sends it later, and there is no SMS waiting behind the screen. The product does not claim an automatic collection engine.
- If WhatsApp does not open, you get a notice to check that WhatsApp is installed and to try again. Fix that, then start again from the bell. Do not switch to a different app’s “we will message them” promise without reading who presses Send. A comparison of how other listings talk about reminders is in Munshi and Rupin and Munshi and Apna Munshi. Those pages are not this procedure.
After Send, the book still needs the payment
A reply that says “I will send it tonight” does not change the balance. When the money arrives, open the account and tap You got for the amount that arrived, the same day. If the notes went into the drawer, add Cash in as well. The reminder history is a list of reminders you opened in WhatsApp. It is not a receipt, and it does not replace You got. Treating “I reminded them” as “they paid” is how a balance stays wrong for months.
If they reply that the figure is wrong, stop messaging and send a statement. The PDF shows the lines. That path is in customer statements and, when the dispute is heated, in settling a dispute with the khata.
A collection date, still not an automatic send
You can set a collection date so you remember the day you agreed. On Reminders, choose the people, then Set collection date. The date shows on the account. It does not send a WhatsApp message when the morning arrives. You still come back, open the draft, and press Send yourself. If you wanted a robot to chase customers, this is the wrong expectation to bring to Munshi. The app is free to download. Ads marked Ad support it, and they are not placed on the reminder while you are sending it. Names, phone numbers and amounts are not shared with advertisers.
A small practice run
Before you message a real customer, send one reminder to your own second number. Walk the six steps. Confirm that nothing appears in the chat until you press Send. Confirm the amount matches the account. Then delete nothing important: this practice only matters if you used a test account, not your largest customer, and if you do not tap You got for a payment that never happened. A test entry you no longer want can be deleted, and it waits in the Recycle bin.
If several people share a payday, set the date once for the group you selected, then still send one draft at a time. A busy Thursday is not a reason to tap through unread. Read the amount on each draft the way you would read a note you were about to hand someone. A wrong thousand, sent in your name, takes longer to unwind than the minute you saved.
That is the whole feature. Bell, person, Send reminder, read, Send. The judgement about tone stays in the other guide, where it belongs.
